10 GOOD REASONS FOR COMING TO VISIT PUERTO VIEJO DE TALAMANCA!
Keep in mind there are many reasons to come and visit the south Caribbean zone of Costa Rica. Actually, there are so many that it is impossible to mention them all ... so this is why we decided to include only ten.
I did not compile this list alone but with the help and advice of several other people who equally love Puerto Viejo. This is what I found.
YOU SHOULD COME TO PUERTO VIEJO TO SEE AND MEET:
(1). NATURE, the incredible majesty of the tropical forests stopped from growing only by the black and white beaches, and the many fresh water that slide along forming the rivers in the mountains, the waterfalls that form lovely fresh pools to swim safely.
(2). The FAUNA, an array of tropical birds that delight and entertain us, lazy and their offspring that descend from the trees to greet us, the giant iguanas and lizards that run around everywhere, toucans, hummingbirds in short… a host of bugs that we welcome sight of every day.
(3). The BEACHES, full of life with their warm, crystal clear waters and plenty of colorful fish, shellfish and lobsters ... coral reefs, sea plants ... cangrejitos (land and sea crabs) and sharks.
Seeing the beauty of Costa Rican families on their holidays enjoying the beaches, we have the opportunity to see a little more of their culture, while we are privileged to enjoy these beautiful beaches for the rest of the year without almost anybody in them. ¡Qué bueno!
(4). The TROPICAL CLIMATE, the eternal summer, which one never tires of, and the experience of living a week or more under the tropical rains,
yes, it is so worthwhile.
See the gray skies but the horizon is clear leaving the vast cloud that is already occurring. The sunsets, full of reds, purples, pinks and oranges ... with thousands of shades of blue and the beautiful sunrises that encourage you to get up out of bed because today, there is so much beauty to keep watching.
(5). The AFRO CARIBBEAN CULTURE, that pervades the coast with their odors of Run Down, Rice and Beans, Journey Cake, Pan Bon and Panamanian Chile.
Beautiful people with golden skins and naive and happy souls.
Fishermen, hunters and farmers...
Direct descendants of Africa, passing from Jamaica, and arrived from the Caribbean of Nicaraguan, and mainly from Panama’s, looking for turtles, leaving coconut palms, and yucca planted along the coast.
(6). The REGGAE and Calypso, also legacies of the Afro-Caribbean culture, Reggae music is the best on the planet, it arrives at the spirit and makes you feel you are doing the will of God when you praise Him ... Reggae Roots invoke the name above every name: Jesus Christ, and when that happens you reach The PEACE that surpasses all understanding.
And the Calypso music ... beautiful, sweet, cheerful and very danceable... to play and laugh. Listen to Mister Ferguson from Cahuita ... the very best!
(7). THE INDIGENOUS BRIBRÍ PEOPLE, the first inhabitants of the Canton of Talamanca. Beautiful and simple people, full of all the knowledge of these “difficult” lands,
With the wisdom acquired throughout so many years on medicinal plants (the essence of the medicine), the treatment of animals and the respect and use of a truly intelligent way with the Earth, their way of life in this planet is an example to us all.
The vibration of the indigenous people, confidence and peace of their silence, the simplicity in lifestyle and humility, are simply necessary of being experienced.
(8).PUERTO VIEJO town itself, Of Course!
Absolutely anyone visiting Puerto Viejo de Talamanca knows in every way that Puerto Viejo people live in a harmony with at least fifty different nationalities, preciously MULTICULTURAL.
Puerto Viejo is like New York, but tropicalized!
So many neat little places in Puerto Viejo:

Reaching Puerto Viejo form Limon is fast and easy, it is just a blessing since almost do not circulate cars…and when you get here, seizes the cheer atmosphere that you breathe and character of this magical place.
(9). The WAVES, starting with the wave mother SALSA BRAVA, one of the best waves in Costa Rica, not to say the best one, if you are a fairly good surfer and love the waves, you have to SURFER SALSA BRAVA!
But not only is there Salsa, but also the famous beach break Playa Cocles where there is lots of excellent surfing, just mention nearby Punta Uva, Manzanillo, and La Isla Uvita in Limón. In short, endless of good waves throughout the year.
Puerto Viejo tourism exploded (for better and for worse), through the surf. But ironically, surfing is the sport that has been responsible from take many young people away from the destructive power of drugs, alcohol, and an excess life... but at the same time has attracted a lot of the same.
(10). The SPIRITUAL WEALTH that is acquired ... to see one, despite the inconvenience and the dramas that also occur in Puerto Viejo, is rich, culturally speaking for God, for habits that each bring to Puerto Viejo, are merged appeased, and the character’s need to understand, give, forgive and trust that God is above everything and has control of all his creation.
We will not fail to mention the privilege of enjoying the physical space that gives us Talamanca to find and live with ourselves, to learn and grow in an authentic way.
And also, gives us an opportunity to stay because there is still a live option in life, yes, if we were to look for and give the best in us.
All this is definitely the magic that everyone who come feels about Puerto Viejo, and is taxed on their hearts.
Our motto always will be "Good is the only thing that overcomes badly."

10 Buenas Razones para Venir a Visitar Puerto Viejo

¡10 BUENAS RAZONES PARA VENIR A VISITAR PUERTOVIEJO!
Real mente hay muchísimas razones para venir a visitar el Caribe Sur de Costa Rica, hay tantas, que es imposible poder mencionarlas todas…es por esto que hemos decidido mencionar solamente 10 de ellas… es posible que más, pues seguramente no podremos evitar poner varias en una.
Este trabajo no quería hacerlo sola…por que me interesaba saber que piensan otros de este lugar tan tan especial, por lo que preguntando a mis amigos y compañeras de trabajo, a algún familiar y a algún conocido qué le dirían a los viajeros del por qué tienen que venir a conocer Puerto Viejo y todos sus alrededores, me encontré con todo esto...
DEBES VENIR A PUERTO VIEJO PARA CONOCER:
1. LA NATURALEZA, la increíble majestuosidad de los bosques tropicales, que llegarían, si pudieran, hasta el fondo del mar, a no ser que los límites que Dios puso no hicieran su trabajo de detener la selva en las playas blancas y negras.
La multitud de aguas frescas que se deslizan formando ríos, a lo largo de las montañas, con sus impresionantes cataratas que nos dejan sus piscinas naturales para poder bañarnos con seguridad.
2. LA FAUNA, todo un abanico de aves tropicales que nos deleitan la vista, los perezosos y sus crías que bajan de los árboles a saludarnos, las iguanas gigantes y sus descendientes las lagartijas que corretean por todos los lugares, los tucanes, los colibríes, en fin… un sinfín de bichitos que nos alegran la vista todos los días.
3. LAS PLAYAS, llenas de vida con sus cálidas aguas transparentes y cristalinas con multitud de peces de colores, moluscos y langostas… arrecifes coralinos, plantas marinas… cangrejitos, tiburones.
La hermosura de ver a las familias costarricenses en vacaciones llenando su playas y disfrutando de ellas, teniendo nosotros la oportunidad de ver un poco más de su cultura; al mismo tiempo, el privilegio de poder disfrutar de estas bellas playas durante el resto del año sin encontraser con casi nadie en ellas. ¡Qué bueno!
4. EL CLIMA TROPICAL, el eterno verano del cual uno nunca se cansa, y la experiencia de vivir una semana o más bajo las lluvias tropicales, sí, merece la pena vivirlo.
Ver los cielos grises pero al fondo, en el horizonte, la claridad que está dejando la inmensa nube que ya está pasando, las puestas de sol llenas de rojos, violetas, rosados y anaranjados…con miles de tonalidades de azules y los maravillosos amaneceres que te impulsan a levantarte de la cama por que hoy, hay mucha belleza que seguir viendo.
5. LA CULTURA AFRO CARIBEÑA…que impregna toda la costa con sus olores a Run Down, Rice and Beans, Journey Cake, Pan Bon y Chile Panameño,
Gente bella, con pieles doradas y almas ingenuas y alegres.
Pescadores, cazadores y agricultores.
Descendientes directos de África, pasados por Jamaica y llegados desde el Caribe nicaragüense y principalmente panameño buscando tortugas y dejando cocoteros y yuca sembrada a lo largo toda la costa.
6. EL REGGAE y EL Calipso, legados también de la cultura afro caribeña, el Reggae es la mejor música existente en el planeta tierra, pues llega al espíritu y te sientes efectuando la voluntad de Dios al alabarle…Reggae Roots que invoca el nombre que es sobre todo nombre: Jesucristo, y cuando esto sucede te llega la Paz que sobrepasa todo entendimiento.
Y el Calipso…música bella, dulce, alegre y muy baible…es para jugar y reír. Deben de escuchar a Míster Férguson de Cahuita… ¡el mejor!

EL PUEBLO INDÍGENA BIBRI, los primeros pobladores de este cantón de Talamanca, preciosa gente sencilla y llena de todo el conocimiento de estas tierras “difíciles” con toda la sabiduría adquirida a lo largo de tantos años sobre plantas medicinales (la esencia de la medicina contemporánea) el trato con los animales, y el respeto y uso de una manera verdaderamente inteligente de la madre tierra, su manera de vivir en el planeta es un ejemplo para todos nosotros.
La vibración del pueblo indígena, la confianza y paz de su silencio, la sencillez en su estilo de vida y la humildad, es simplemente necesaria de ser experimentada.
8. PUERTO VIEJO ¡por supuesto! Definitivamente cualquier persona que visita Costa Rica, tiene que conocer Puerto Viejo,
¡de todas las maneras!
Por que en Puerto Viejo convivimos de una manera admirablemente armoniosa al menos 50 nacionalidades diferentes.
Puerto Viejo es preciosamente MULTICULTURAL.
¡¡En Puerto Viejo, pasa lo mismo que pasa en
Nueva York pero tropicalizado!!
En Puerto Viejo encuentras de todo: Taxis, Internet, Oficina de Correos, Banco, Farmacia, Carnicería Italiana, Pescaderías, Supermercados, Restaurantes de primera calidad españoles, italianos, franceses, japoneses, ticos, caribeños, nicaragüense, canadienses, norteamericanos, tailandeses, mejicanos, etc., etc., etc.

Hoteles de primera calidad, integrados ecológicamente en el entorno que nos rodea…como La Isla Inn, no aceptamos edificios grandes ni hoteles de alta densidad ¡nos gusta compartir!
Se llega fácil y rápido y el tramo de Limón a Puerto Viejo es toda una bendición pues casi no circulan coches…cuando llegas a Puerto Viejo, se apodera de ti el ambiente alegre que se respira de este característico y mágico lugar.
9. LAS OLAS, empezando por la ola madre SALSA BRAVA, una de las mejores olas de Costa Rica, por no decir la mejor, si eres surfeador mas o menos bueno y amas las olas.
¡TIENES QUE SURFEAR SALSA BRAVA!
Pero no solo tenemos Salsa, está el famoso beach break de playa Cocles donde está toda la actividad surfera, también está Punta Uva, Manzanillo, la Isla Uvita en Limón y un sinfín de buenas olas durante todo el año.
10. LA RIQUEZA espiritual…que se adquiere al ver como uno, a pesar de los inconvenientes y los dramas que también ocurren en Puerto Viejo, es enriquecido, culturalmente hablando por Dios, pues las costumbres que cada uno traemos a Puerto Viejo, son fusionadas y los caracteres apaciguados y adecuados para poder entender, ceder, perdonar y confiar en que Dios está por encima de todo y tiene el control de Toda su Creación, para así poder seguir amandonos en el espiritu.

Todo esto es definitivamente la magia que todo el que viene a Puerto Viejo percibe y se lleva gravado en su corazón.
Pues nuestro lema es: “El bien es lo único que vence al mal”.
Esperamos que estas 10 razones sean suficientes para hacer que vengan a conocer esta preciosa región y que antes de irse puedan aportar alguna razón más.

La vibración del pueblo indígena, la confianza y paz de su silencio, la sencillez en su estilo de vida y la humildad, es simplemente necesaria de ser experimentada.
8. PUERTO VIEJO ¡por supuesto! Definitivamente cualquier persona que visita Costa Rica, tiene que conocer Puerto Viejo,

Se llega fácil y rápido y el tramo de Limón a Puerto Viejo es toda una bendición pues casi no circulan coches…cuando llegas a Puerto Viejo, se apodera de ti el ambiente alegre que se respira de este característico y mágico lugar.
9. LAS OLAS, empezando por la ola madre SALSA BRAVA, una de las mejores olas de Costa Rica, por no decir la mejor, si eres surfeador mas o menos bueno y amas las olas.
¡TIENES QUE SURFEAR SALSA BRAVA!
Pero no solo tenemos Salsa, está el famoso beach break de playa Cocles donde está toda la actividad surfera, también está Punta Uva, Manzanillo, la Isla Uvita en Limón y un sinfín de buenas olas durante todo el año.

LA RIQUEZA espiritual…que se adquiere al ver como uno, a pesar de los inconvenientes y los dramas que también ocurren en Puerto Viejo, es enriquecido, culturalmente hablando por Dios, pues las costumbres que cada uno traemos a Puerto Viejo, son fusionadas y los caracteres apaciguados y adecuados para poder entender, ceder, perdonar y confiar en que Dios está por encima de todo y tiene el control de Toda su Creación, para así poder seguir amandonos en el espiritu.

Todo esto es definitivamente la magia que todo el que viene a Puerto Viejo percibe y se lleva gravado en su corazón.
