Brasilito is a very laid-back, unpretentious beach village – just what we were looking for. Simon and Hilda have this wonderful & small hotel. Our room was comfortable with A/C, a small frig, TV, and good wi-fi. Of course, this gives us a good excuse to return, which we will. This is not the place for you if you are looking for high-rise condos and hotels blocking the beach views. This is what beach towns in Florida were like 50 years ago – and Conchal Hotel is a perfect place to stay and enjoy the relaxed ambiance.

I recently had the privilege of staying at this gorgeous little hotel, the price was incredible as was the food at Papaya and the pool was perfect~! Your hosts Simon and Hilda were extremely gracious from the moment we arrived. This is by far the best option for accoms in the area. You will not be disappointed.

Simon and Hilda the most charming host and hostess. I stayed for 10 days at the Conchal Hotel recovering from a fire in my apartment in Vancouver, Canada. I had the best food and the most wonderful time. The room was perfect, with a most comfortable bed, nice appointments, air (which I did not need really), cable TV (which I did not watch) as I wanted to be out and about. The other wonderful experience regarding staying at Conchal were the other guests. The type of person who likes a boutique hotel is much different than people who want the big resort experience. My experience was serene and uplifting. It was perfect. PS Hilda is a 5 Star chef in my opinion.

This was our second visit to Hotel Conchal. We were here for a week last year and another this year. We always end our last week of our vacation here at Hotel Conchal. In our opinion, it is the best place in the area. Hilda, Simon and the entire staff makes sure that you are well taken care of. The rooms are large, comfortable king size beds, storage for your clothes and a safe. Large washroom with a good size shower. It is so peaceful to sit around the pool reading, napping or enjoying the excellent food that Hilda makes. “For some reason I always seem to gain weight when we visit”☺ The breakfast in the morning is healthy and a great start to the day. They have an all you can barbeque on Saturday nights which is sooo delicious! The chicken and seafood, just awesome!

Just want to say THANK YOU SO MUCH to Simon and Hilda for their tireless efforts to create the perfect wedding day and making our stay such an enjoyable one. We spent 10 fantastic days in Conchal Bay Hotel at the end of April for my son’s wedding. All the staff were so helpful and friendly and, without fail, went the extra mile to ensure our stay was as hassle free and comfortable as possible; I really can’t praise them enough. The pool, the food, the coffee, the hammocks and most especially the cocktails … All heaven!

When I first saw it during the day, I thought it was charming and romantic, but when I saw it at night, I fell in love with it! We came with our almost 2 y.o. and he got to see monkeys, turtles, all kinds of birds, and a ton of other little animals of which I do not know the name. Night pool swims surrounded by nature, hammocks, the lounge and restaurant…we so gorgeous. The beaches around are amazing! We used Hotel Conchal as our base, and went to Playas : Grande, Ventanas, Conchal, Brasilito, Minas, Danta, Dantita, Flamingo, Potrero, Bahia de los Piratas, and I am sure I am missing a few others. Hilda and Simon were more than accommodating, they gave us advise on where to go and lend us a cooler (their own), too nice! There is a phone where you can call your family in the US for free, wifi, parking and a delicious breakfast. If you want to order a la carte…well, it only gets better! I cannot wait to come here with all my extended family. My mom and siblings are already checking out prices for flights to Liberia in order to come here. Costa Rica is such an amazing place, and Hotel Conchal just made it even more special. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH! We’ll be back for sure!

We had such a wonderful time in Costa Rica and we loved Conchal so much! It was like coming home after a day at the beach. Everyone was so nice and really helpful to us. We appreciated the hospitality more than we can say. We hope to be back some day:)

My daughter was married here in April 2012, i have to say that Simon & Hilda did everything they possibly could to make it a special, memorable occassion. They liased with my daughter and her fiance about everything but ensured that they did nothing except to choose which flowers she wanted. We were all treated as part of the Conchal family, nothing was too much trouble, all the staff at the hotel were polite, friendly and are a credit to both Simon & Hilda. Huge thank you to everyone for an amazing wedding and stay at Conchal, hope to see you all again soon. We highly recommend you stay at Conchal if you are in this area of Costa Rica.

I’ve been here three days and leave tomorrow. What a trip – literally! You could drive past the hotel and never know it’s there – just a small gateway in a long strip of buildings on a typical two-lane road. Once through the gates and you’re in an oasis! Hilda, the wife of Simon and co-owner, was here to greet me. The rooms are all on ground level situated on three sides of the swimming pool. Mine is in a quiet corner. Each room has an out door, thatch-covered, patio with a small table and chairs – a nice cool place to sit in the heat of the day – and is separated from the next room with a bamboo curtain to preserve privacy. The room is small, but big enough for a king-sized bed, closet, desk with complimentary computer and a table opposite the bed with a TV. Off the bedroom is a bathroom with a large shower. The bed is ultra comfortable and the linens and décor beautiful. The ambiance is one of relaxation and nurture. The hosts are subtly there without being intrusive. I recall a trip I made to New Orleans in a previous life. While sitting in a prestigious restaurant with my partner, I remember looking around for a side plate. Immediately, a waiter, who I’d not noticed before, was by my side and asking what I needed. I had the same feeling at Hotel Conchal – impressive! As an aside, I am a 68 -year old woman, traveling alone. I felt completely comfortable both in the hotel and local environment. This is a special place!

One can list all the wonderful parts of that total vacation, but outstanding is the gracious hospitality you and your staff provide. From our first email exchanges, I felt we were about to visit a world of great warmth and hospitality. Our experience was exactly that! Your hotel is charming, your meals unbelievably delicious, and the Conchal environment warm and beautiful. I miss the early morning cup of coffee ( yours is definitely better than my Starbucks!) , sitting by the pool with Rachel, Alfred and Joann, soon to be followed by your perfect breakfast upstairs. The sweetness of everyone there… at Conchal and beyond– the extended hand, the kindnesses– leave us with the warmest memories of our time in Costa Rica. You take the most wonderful care of your guests– planning trips, lovely meals, and could we ever forget the birthday cake!– and we thank you both with all our hearts. Have a wonderful season and hope to see you next year!

From the moment I booked my 1 nite stay @ Conchal Hotel, I was given assistance from that point on until our stay at the property and afterwards, if we needed assistance. Simon, our gracious host & Hilda, our lovely & wonderful hostess, helped us all the way from communicating to me via emails abt our upcoming trip, giving us directions to their place, helping to arrange our transportation from SJO airport to that area & even gave us their phone # & business card to call them the if we needed to the remainder of our stay in the area for pointers to go here, go there, points of interest or just whatever. My husband & I travel alot & never have we received such welcome & down home type treatment. We really appreciated them making us feel “welcome” and making us feel comfortable about our trip to their “homeland”. We had some apprehension about renting a car & making the trip over to that area in a rental car (after reading reviews about tourist & rental cars) but Simon helped me make an informed decision & he gave me all the information I needed & he calmed my fears. Although we spent only 1 nite here before going to an all inclusive resort, the hotel is small, cozy, nice, clean & in a good location (close to a beach). The rooms are spacious, the bathroom is spacious & modern & we had a fridge in our room for cold drinks. There is free internet svc at the property for guests (although we did not use it). There is a security guard that watches the property & your car (if you rent one). The free continental breakfast was “a plus” and with the inexpensive room rate & the breakfast included in the price was “awesome”. We purchased dinner that nite, I had the cajun shrimp pizza & my husband had grilled shrimp on shewers with rice & vegs. It was delicious – let’s just say that Hilda “can cook”!! Let’s just say that you will have no regrets if you book Conchal Hotel & the only regrets we had is that we did not stay longer. But we will definitely stay here for a day or two if we are ever back in the area. They are some good people that knows how to treat their guests “right” & they go over & beyond their guest’s expections!! THANKS SIMON & HILDA – YOU ALL WERE GREAT TO US – WE APPRECIATED IT!!

“I would say the biggest delight for us was going from the massive Westin Conchal resort to the quaint and friendly Conchal Hotel. The lady working at Conchal Hotel was fantastic. We thought we’d be sad that we had to leave the all-inclusive luxury of the Westin, but her warmth made the Westin seem hollow. Good call on that hotel man.”

Wow is about all we could say about Conchal. We found this gem by surfing the internet and by what we read and seen by the photos, decided to book for the first 7 of our 15 nite stay. Needless to say, the photos on the internet are great, but of course do not do justice to the naked eye. Same with reviews, you really have to see this and experience for yourself to appreciate how sweet this quaint and lovely place is. And you can’t even start to say how wonderful Simon and Hilda and each and every staff member they have are. Not to mention the food, service, beauty, gorgeous rooms, comfy comfy huge beds, one could go on and on. It seemed to us that you didn’t really see anyone around yet if you needed something they magically appeared. If you go there you will see what we mean. Hilda and Simon and all of the staff carry about their business yet you rarely hear them and only catch a glimpse of them now and then, with a smile and a hello, and “do you need anything”. After doing day trips to other nearby (and some not that nearby) beaches and towns, we decided nothing would really compare to where we were and asked if there was room for us to stay an additional 5 nights. Thankfully there was a room available and we had the luck of staying on. Simon and Hilda had great advice on beaches to see, restaurants, maps, a car rental to the rain forest, the monkey trail quad ride where we seen the monkeys, so so helpful. They even have a driver they call when we wanted to go see another beach, town, anything, he was always waiting for us at the agreed time to return to Conchal. He was very sweet and very reasonably priced, and also had advice on what to see and do in CR. We had a truly nice stay, and even with a little wild animal racket some nights. To us, it didn’t matter, we’re on holidays, we can nap later on the beach. The beauty of nature around was much more enjoyable than a concrete jungle could ever be. We have stayed at all-inclusive 5-stars, as well as quaint hotels, in other countries, and this is one we will that stands out among the crowd. We miss you all at the Conchal, and apologize for taking so long to write a review.
